Shavon and Malik are married! Congratulations to the newlyweds!! Their beautiful elopement took place on the Spanish Steps in NW D.C. and despite the rainy day, it was absolutely perfect. I met Shavon and Malik through a longtime client of mine (Hey Erica!) and when they asked me to photograph their intimate wedding, I was thrilled. Shavon and Malik planned their Spanish Steps elopement here in the States so that their family could witness it. They’re originally from St. Thomas!

The entire ceremony was just so sweet. It was clear how much they love each other and were excited to get married. And it was even more clear how excited those celebrating with them were too! They made sure Shavon and Malik were covered during their vows and could just focus on each other. After their ceremony, we worked our way through a few quick family portraits and then it was time to focus on the bride and groom! They looked so cozy and romantic under the little umbrella – and we captured some truly beautiful wedding portraits for them to remember this day forever. There’s something really special about being a part of an intimate wedding day or elopement. As they are more intimate affairs, it means that I’m able to really connect with my clients on their special and important day. It allows me to focus on them, their emotions, and the people they’ve chosen to have with them. Weddings don’t have to be big to be meaningful and everything you want!
